How To Use Chrome Powder

How to Do Chrome Nails with Chrome Powder

Want to create manicures that stand out — without hours spent on nail art? Chrome Powder will be your new best friend! Easy to apply and perfect for simple nail creations, our chrome nail powders pack a punch for every gel manicure.

How Do You Use Chrome Powder?

Chrome powder is one of the easiest nail art products to use! It can turn an ordinary gel manicure into a show-stopping one — and all you need is a No Wipe Top Coat, your chosen chrome powder and the applicator (included with every pot of chrome powder).

You can use chrome powder as full coverage on your nails for a BIG wow factor! Or use it to create different patterns, combine two different colours into one design, draw lines and shapes — the choices are endless!

Looking for the glazed donut nail look? Use our Pearl White Chrome Powder over a sheer nude or pink base. See our full glazed donut nails tutorial for step-by-step instructions.

How to Apply Chrome Powder to Gel Nails

This super easy nail art product only needs one product to work its magic: a No Wipe Top Coat! The pigments adhere to the cured top coat to create your chosen design. Follow these steps:

  • Prep nails and apply base and gel colour coats as normal
  • Apply a No Wipe Top Coat and cure for 30 seconds in your Bluesky lamp
  • As soon as your nails are out of the lamp, take a small amount of your favourite chrome powder onto your applicator brush
  • Rub the powder onto the nail until full coverage is achieved
  • Take a nail buffer and very gently run this over the free edge of your nail — this removes any loose powder that would otherwise prevent your top coat from sticking
  • Use a dust brush to remove any other loose powder, then apply a final layer of No Wipe Top Coat and cure for 60 seconds

Chrome Nail Design Ideas

The beauty of chrome powder is that it isn’t just for a full coverage look. You can get creative with nail art designs — from simple chrome nails to something more detailed for those wanting a challenge.

Chrome Colour Blocking Design

One of our favourite ways to use chrome pigments is to create this stunning blocking design — here’s how:

  • Apply your Base Coat and cure for 60 seconds in your Bluesky lamp
  • Apply 1–2 coats of your chosen gel polish, curing for 60 seconds between each coat
  • Apply a thin coat of No Wipe Top Coat only where you want the chrome effect — use a nail art brush for precision
  • Cure for 30 seconds in your Bluesky lamp
  • Using your applicator, take a small amount of chrome powder and rub it onto your nail to create your design. Dust off excess with a dust brush and gently buffer the free edge
  • Once happy with your design, apply a No Wipe Top Coat and cure for a final 60 seconds
