With spring in full swing and Easter just around the corner, there are plenty of easy nail designs you can practice to make the most of the colours that are trending this season. We’ve got three of our favourite designs to get you started with your new nail creations, using some trending pastel gel polish shades!
Before you start with any nail art design, make sure you follow our nail prep tips to make sure your nails are ready and your new gel manicure lasts longer.
Speckled Egg Nails
This is our favourite Easter nail art design – and not just because it involves chocolate… The speckled egg design is super simple to create from home, and involves plenty of colour to really make your nails pop!
- Apply your Bluesky Base Coat to nails, curing for 60 seconds LED/2 minutes UV.
- Take your first pastel colour and apply it to your first nail. Take your second and apply it to your next nail and so on until you’ve completed all five nails.
- Cure for 60 seconds LED/2 minutes UV, and repeat the process to build up the colour.
- Next, take a nail art brush with wide bristles – or you can grab an old toothbrush too! Pop some black or brown gel polish onto a pallet and dip your brush into it.
- Using a dotting motion, dot the gel polish onto your nails to create your speckled effect.
- Once happy with your design, cure for 60 seconds LED/2 minutes UV.
- Finish with a Bluesky Matte Top Coat, curing for 60 seconds LED/2 minutes UV, and wipe with a Cleanser Wipe to finish. Repeat for your second hand.
- Try not to mistake your nails for chocolate…
Pastel Rainbow Nails
A super simple nail design to create from home – you only need a set of pastel colours to create your very own rainbow nails!
- Apply your Bluesky Base Coat to nails, curing for 60 seconds LED/2 minutes UV.
- Take your first pastel gel colour and apply to your nails. Continue by applying each new colour to a new nail. Cure for 60 seconds LED/2 minutes UV.
- Add another 1-2 coats to build up the depth of colour, curing for 60 seconds LED/2 minutes UV after applying each new coat.
- Finish with your top coat – choose either our classic Bluesky Top Coat or a Matte Top Coat; either work perfectly with pastel nails! Cure for 60 seconds LED/2 minutes UV and wipe with a Cleanser Wipe to finish off your design, then repeat for your second hand.
Polka Dot Nails
While polka dots are a staple all year round, we love creating them for spring using our favourite pastel gel polish colours! Grab an orangewood stick or a thin nail art brush and get ready to create an easy nail art design.
- Apply your Bluesky Base Coat to nails, curing for 60 seconds LED/2 minutes UV.
- Take your desired base gel colour – we’re loving pastel purple at the moment for this look! Apply to all five nails and cure for 60 seconds LED/2 minutes UV.
- Apply a further 1-2 coats to build up the depth of colour, curing for 60 seconds LED/2 minutes UV after applying each new coat.
- Take a pallet (you can use a plastic lid for this) and pop some gel polish onto it in the colour you want to create your polka dots with.
- Get your orangewood stick and dip it in the gel. Dot the gel onto your nail in your desired pattern – you can create shapes or simply create dots over your whole nail!
- Once happy with your design, for 60 seconds LED/2 minutes UV.
- Apply your Bluesky Top Coat and cure for 60 seconds LED/2 minutes UV.
- Finish with a Cleanser Wipe then repeat for your other hand!
